Three bike try out areas
A chance to have a go on all manner of fun bikes, from the conventional to the very unusual indeed! You are free to test out as many as you’d like - with trained and friendly staff on hand to give advice and help you ride safely.
Track 1 - The Get Cycling Try-Out Track
The main try-out arena: No less than 50 cycles. A heady mix of the conventional and the not-so-common, for all ages: high quality conventional cycles, family bikes and trailers, recumbent, tandems, tricycles, special needs machines, folders and much more. In this area you will also find the Family Pavilion - a marquee containing some family oriented bikes - staffed by one of our family cycling experts, who will be happy to advise. Also in this area will be a unit dedicated to Special Needs Cycling - with bikes to try, and specialised advice on offer.
Track 2 - The KMX Kart Action Zone
20 KMX recumbent tricycles in sizes to suit all ages. Pure, out-of-breath fun, on a grass track.
Track 3 - The ‘Viking’/learner bike Arena
This one’s for the younger members of the family. A combination of ‘Viking’ cycles for the under 6’s: varied miniature cycles including tricycles, chariots, rickshaws, hand-cranked cycles, penny farthings, tandems, etc. Also a variety of learner bikes for those who haven’t yet mastered a two-wheeler.
Free range mega-bikes.
A chance to experience some communal cycling, on the Seven-seater-circlecycle, or our Five-seater-quintette. You can ride on our Rickshaw Tricycle, and also compete against your friends on our four rider Pedal Powered Scalextric racing game.
Amazing stunt show

Be wowed by the most extreme and skilful cycling display show in the UK. The Clan consist of the some of the UKs finest cycling talent, brought together by the infamous Danny Macaskill, check out his stunning video on YouTube) Each member of the team brings a different personality and style of cycling to the dare-devil show.
Not one, not two, but three shows on offer!
1. The big air show
Very simply the biggest and most extreme cycling stunt show in the UK. The show includes the riders hitting their big air ramp, performing huge 360s and back-flips.
2. The kick-start show
A 15 minute ‘trials’ cycling show featuring the skills of Duncan Shaw. Involves riding heavily adapted mountain bikes, designed for precision manoeuvres. Watch him leap huge gaps and drop from big heights.
3. The TIMBERTRAIL CHALLENGE
A chance to take part in the Timbertrail challenge, as you negotiate a mountain bike over narrow timber platforms. Created by The Clan team, the obstacle course is a safe, fun challenge which is easy to start with for beginners and kids, getting more and more difficult for the talented riders and those determined to meet the challenge.
The exhibition zone
Come and see a varied range of local and national retailers, organisations, clubs and other cycle professionals. Everything from cycling maps to giant load-carrying cycles. Meet people who make their living riding, selling, building and racing bikes. Find out just how much of our City lives, breathes and eats for cycling.
The information zone
Meet the teams responsible for the cycling infrastructure of York. They will have much to offer by way of advice - from the technical to the logistical. There will also be information on local cycling routes and maps. The Cycling City pavilion offers you a chance to find out what’s happening currently and over the next few years to improve and expand what’s on offer for cyclists in York.
Guided rides
Why not take the opportunity to take part in a guided ride? Bring your bike to join a guided tour of one of York’s beautiful scenic cycle routes directly connected to the site Just choose a distance to suit your ability and follow the leader!
Special needs
Visit the special needs cycling display and information centre. Try out the cycles, and talk to the experts. Hear more about York's own Bikes not barriers loan scheme.
BMX Jam
We check out the skills of local young people and judge the competition for the fantabulous prizes!
